What Is Your Claude Proficiency Level? The 2-Minute Auckland Business Owner Diagnostic

May 30
3 min read

In short: This 2-minute diagnostic places you on the Strategize Auckland Five Levels of Claude Proficiency framework. Answer five yes/no questions; your level is the highest "yes". Level 1 is occasional use; Level 5 is Claude embedded in the operating system of the business. Most Auckland owners score Level 1. The result names the single structural move that takes you up a level. The interactive version is below; the questions are also listed in full so you can self-score on paper.

Take the diagnostic

The interactive diagnostic loads below. If it does not appear, the five questions are listed underneath — score yourself by finding the highest question you can answer "yes" to.

The five questions (self-score on paper)

Your Claude proficiency level is the highest-numbered question you can honestly answer "yes" to.

  • Question 1 (Level 1): I used Claude (or another AI assistant) this week.

  • Question 2 (Level 2): I have worked through a specific multi-week project with Claude across multiple sessions.

  • Question 3 (Level 3): I have three or more recurring weekly tasks where Claude is the default.

  • Question 4 (Level 4): Claude is running autonomous work against at least one of my actual business systems (CRM, financials, website backend, search console, email).

  • Question 5 (Level 5): I have redesigned at least one core business process around what Claude can do directly.

What your level means and the next move

Level 1 — Email & Document Helper

You use Claude one prompt at a time. Real value, bounded — typically 1-3 hours per week saved. Next move: commit to one multi-week project where Claude is the structural companion. That is the climb to Level 2.

Level 2 — Project Companion

You work through specific projects with Claude across multiple sessions. Next move: identify three recurring weekly tasks and make Claude the default for each. Run them for four to six weeks. That is the climb to Level 3.

Level 3 — Working Partner

Claude is embedded in your weekly rhythm. Typically 8-15 hours per week saved. Next move: connect Claude to one business system via API or the Model Context Protocol. The first connection is the threshold to Level 4.

Level 4 — Agentic Orchestration

Claude runs autonomous work against your business systems. You design and verify rather than do. Next move: redesign one core business process around what Claude can do directly. That is the climb to Level 5.

Level 5 — Embedded

Claude is integrated into the operating system of your business. The edge of current NZ commercial practice. Next move: there is no single next move — Level 5 is continuous strategic process redesign.

Where most Auckland owners land

Most Auckland business owners who take this diagnostic score Level 1. A smaller group reaches Level 2. Level 3 is the sharpest operators. Level 4 is rare in Auckland today. Strategize Auckland operates at Level 4 across the practice — the diagnostic itself, this website, and the search monitoring behind it run on Level 4 agentic Claude pipelines.

What to do with your result

If you scored Level 1 or 2 and want to climb deliberately rather than ad-hoc, the structured path is: Level 2 (one project, two weeks), Level 3 (three recurring workflows, six weeks), Level 4 (one system integration, eight weeks). Four to five months from Level 1 to Level 4 with deliberate practice.
